It is with great regret that we announce the passing of Dell Achtell, née Lyon, on Saturday, August 5th, 2023, in her 91st year. Beloved wife of 71 years of Lorne Achtell. She was the cherished daughter of Mary McCardle and of Robert Lyon and the loving mother of the late Kirk (Sheila), Stephen (Mary Jean), Ernest (Sandra) and Christopher (Jennifer). She was also the proud grandmother of Adam (Marie-France), Ashley (Michel), Mitchell, Kate (Kelsey), James, Sarah, Ines and Malachai; the cherished great-grandmother of Emily and Elizabeth. Dell will be missed by her many nieces, nephews and friends. She was predeceased by her siblings Ruby, Jane, Doris, Robert, Lorna and Grace.
Friends and family may pay their respects at St. Matthew Evangelical Lutheran Church, 643 chemin d’Inlet, Mulgrave-et-Derry, Québec J8L 2W8 on Monday, August 14, 2023 from 10:30 to 11:30 followed by the funeral service and reception at the church parsonage.
In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory to the St. Matthew Evangelical Lutheran Church in Mulgrave-et Derry, Québec or to a charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.

Please accept our condolences on the passing of Dell.
I (Marie-Odile) have found memories of my visits with Dell in the early years of our time as neighbours. When our son Eric was an infant, she invited me to come visit, while in the winter months we waited for our cabin to heat up. I remember her telling stories of her life as a “city girl” who had moved to the country for love. She recounted how life was then: often, while holding our son on her knee, she shared how much she enjoyed being a mother, as each of her sons was born. Even if that meant having to wash diapers by hand! Dell is the one who showed me where “the sandslides” were, and invited us to use them - something which gave us and our children enormous pleasure over the years! Dell will forever be remembered by our family as a lovely person who we were lucky to have as a neighbour.
