À la mémoire de

Cynthia Alene (née Cameron) Johnson

1947 - 2016

Alene Johnson of Gatineau (Aylmer), Quebec, passed away on October 27th, 2016, at the age of 69. She is survived by her husband Lloyd, of 44 years, daughter Naomi, sister Shirley (Don) of Swan River, Manitoba, brother John (Cheryl) of Winnipeg, Manitoba, and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. Preceded by her parents, Chester and Elsie Cameron of Roland, Manitoba.

Alene was a talented and dedicated teacher, who touched the lives of many students over her long teaching career at Philemon Wright High School. In her retired years, Alene enjoyed an active social life with family and many lifelong friends. Some of her favourite moments were spent cooking, reading, and being outside in her garden picking weeds.

At Alene's request, there will be no funeral service. As Alene was always very passionate about living a life focused on holistic wellness, donations in her honour may be considered for the Ottawa Integrative Cancer Centre or La Maison Mathieu-Froment Savoie, where she received excellent care in her final days.

Lloyd and family...we are very very sorry to hear of Alene's passing. On occasions that we were with her, she always presented herself as a friendly and compassionate lady. We can't imagine what you are going through now, but rest assured that with the support of family and friends, healing will take place over time. In the short term don't hesitate to call if there is anything we can do for you and family. Warm regards, Peter and Cathy

It is with great sadness that we feel your loss of Alene. She had a gift of making everyone comfortable in her presence. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. We trust that with time you will recall the fond memories Alene has left you with.

Alene had the gift of making people she was with feel that she cared about them; not only her students, everyone. I know how much she loved you, Lloyd and you, Naomi. It was there in all of her anecdotes. I was terribly sad when I learned of her illness. The last time I spent time with her was a year ago when I travelled from Montreal to have lunch in Chelsea. We were a small group. Alene was so beautiful and strong and brave. I will miss her. My heart goes out to you.
